"Scott:
A guy came up to me in the gym - and dropped a compliment:
"Dave, I can tell you're focused, I can see it in your eyes when you're here.
No chit -chat , just hard work, focus.
You're starting to get really cut, I can almost see the changes daily.
Good job. Keep it up
."

I tried to act cool, and said, "thanks, I appreciate that. It means a lot coming from you..."

Then I got back to work...even more energized than before.

This is coming form a former competitive bodybuilder - a guy I respect and have seen working out in the same gym for at least 6 years.

He's in great shape at age 50 - and an inspiration.

By the way - my online sales: Up, Up and away. I bettered my best by a HUGE Margin. I did more in three days, than in my previous best month. i can't wait to show you the graph."

It's Gut Check Time - For Your Business and Your Body
How Do You Measure Up?
January 2007
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-- Rule Changes!
The majority of people who made New Years Resolutions for 2007 are now struggling.
It happens every year.
They start out gung ho and then "bam" they hit the wall.
I've seen it in the gym every year for over 20 years now.
They come to the gym, work out a time or two and then disappear until next year.
Or they start the New Year full of business plans and ideas, try them, don't get the results that they thought they would and give up.
So how about you?
Are you making the progress with your body and your business that you'd like?
If so, then you should think about entering "The Challenge" at www.yourb usinessbody.com
Afterall, you can win a ton of prizes if you are declared the Grand Champion.
Around $150, 000 worth.
Once again, go to www.yourbusinessbody.com for all of the details.
Confusion.
That's one of the reasons that people fail to meet the goals that they have set for themselves - whether it be business related or fitness related.
We make the mistake of listening to too many "experts" in marketing or trying the "latest" diet or training program.
Big mistake.
I've been guilty of this to.
The more that I get into marketing, the more "experts" I discover.
I get bombarded with emails almost every day by these folks.
I'm sure some of them are really successful and I'm sure that I could learn a lot from some of them.
But while it was tempting to "just take a peak" at the latest experts opinion it's just too overwhelming.
So now I just follow one marketers advice.
Simplify.
This has been a huge help and has saved lots of time.
I just made the decision to stop.
It's the same thing with fitness.
If you listen to too many experts in the fitness industry, you'll only come away confused.
Here's my advice. Find an expert that you feel good about, with a proven track record (someone who has done what you would like to do not someone who looks like crap and tells you that they know it all - but that's another story) and then stick with them until you stop getting results.
Find a diet or training program that feels right, stick with it for 90 days minimum and then see where you are.
Simplify.
Don't be tempted to try the latest diet or training program if you have already committed to your current program.
You'll just spin your wheels and come away confused and overwhelmed.
So how are WE doing in the New Year?
Well as you can see in the picture of Joe, he's got guns.
Just look at the intensity on his face.
Is that the face of a man who will allow himself to settle for anything less that what he's after?
Joe's got the guns.
He's also got Francine, who I'm sure you've heard about already. You'll get to see Francine on DVD 6 of YourBusinessBody.com - up close and personal.
Now, sure, Joe doesn't need guns or 100k sportscars to be happy.
But as he is fond of saying "I'm satisfied, I just want more."
He knows who he is and what he wants.
We talk about this in DVD 6.
He's having fun, helping others and living the life of his dreams.
He's really excited about his new book, Zero Limitswhich you'll hear all about and in depth in our latest video - DVD 6 of YourBusinessBody.com.
How about me? Fitness wise, I'm always in shape.
You'll see an example of this in DVD 6.
Business wise well that's even better.
I just bought my wife a Black Lexus ES 4 door Sedan.
She'd be happy in a Honda but once she slid behind the wheel of this new car, there was no going back.
I also have started a new venture with the most famous name in female fitness - Monica Brant- Peckham.
Monica is a fitness celebrity and a household name in the fitness industry.
She and I have partnered up to start Fitnessand FigureReality.com in February 2007.
And I get approached weekly with new offers from other fitness professionals.
So, Joe and I are keeping busy and we're just in January.
I'm sure we'll have our struggles, like everyone else this year, but we will not give up - we will exercise our mental toughness and push through.
We are making some minor rule changes (thanks to everyone's feedback) with The Challenge at www.yourbusinessbody.com.
The rule changes are:
1) We now have "rolling dates".
This simply means that you can enter the challenge at anytime. There are no more body transformation "Round Dates" as per the original rules.
You must complete a 12 week body transformation but once again, it can be when you are ready - no more round dates.
2) The Business Transformation Challenge has been extended until July 31st 2007. That's an extra 2 months.
3) Everything (entrance forms) must be received by August 15th 2007.
We are in the process of updating these rules on the website at yourbusinessbody.com but wanted to let you know about the changes asap.
Everything else remains the same.
As mentioned DVD 6 is ready and has shipped to the subscribers.
Running time is about 75 minutes and you'll see and hear about:
The Finish Line - Joe's Body For Life Experience.
Reflections
The Mental Part of a fitness challenge
Going to Hawaii
ZState
Francine
Joe's humiliating grade school gym teacher
The rope
Grip strength and $40,000 a month
Passive income from book sales and $6 million a month
Holiday Marketing - does business slow down?
And tons more!
You can pick it up here at a special price for a limited time
I will be updating the website at YourBusinessBody.com in the next week so that you may also pick up past episodes of these informative and inspiring DVD's.
Thanks!
Scott (and Joe)
Question -
"Hello Scott,
I know you must be very busy, so i'll keep this short.
I began subscribing to YourBusinessBody.com last month.
I currently have slim body with a tiny bit of belly.
I am VERY interested in the Challenge, & was curious....is it necessary to work towards an incredible Mr. Universe Body style like you have, or would be possible to win by developing a well defined swimmers body type such as Kosta Rashev (the picture i'm including with this email) from one of Zach Even - Esh's of web sites.
If IT IS POSSIBLE i will be sending in my application yesterday.
Thank You So Much for Your Time & Have a Blessed Day,"
Answer -
"Hi, Malcom.
Thanks for the email and congrats on your decision to take action.
The short answer is "NO", you don't have to develop a Mr Universe type physique.
We're looking for the most incredible changes (fat loss, toning up) in the individual.
Thanks and please let me know if you have any other questions!"
"Another great monthly DVD (DVD #5) from YourBusinessBody.com
Scott and Joe – I don’t know how you do it – but these videos keep getting better and more inspiring.
Not only am I inspired by the VISIBLE changes Joe is making with his workout/ diet plan – but I’m super inspired by the Marketing conversations.
This month, you answered some key questions I have with my on-line business:
How often to mail / email to my list
How to react to “Unsubscribes”
How to create products quickly
How to test websites to determine the most effective page formats
I watched the video last night before bed, as I was assembling a snail mail campaign to my list. I do both email and snail mail – and Joe mentioned that this can be effective strategy in this installment – I’ll let you know how it works out.
Seeing Joe’s energy increase through the workout was inspiring. I said to myself: “Tomorrow’s workout will be a killer – I’m going to take “JOE REEVES” to the gym tomorrow – and have a new mantra: WWJD? – Or – What would Joe Do?”
This morning – I hit new Personal Records on ALL my lifts, sets, in the best form ever. On that heavy front squat set that I really didn’t feel I could complete, I knew I couldn’t complete it, The Joe Reeves inside me did."
